Concave Genesis Event

On January 3rd, the team announced that a new event that would happen on the 8th. This event was called the Concave Genesis event. Miners immediately became hyped up, anticipating that more information of the project would be released. That said, there was no official information given on what the event was about. Miners imagined what sort of wonders would be released at the event. On the 5th, a mysterious channel called the Concave Genesis was opened up to miners and in it were various riddles. There would be secret words that were missing most of its letters, and it was up to miners to work together to guess the secret word. At first, the community guessed with speed and precision, but the words became harder to guess. In the channel, hints would trickle down to help the community. Once a certain amount of time passed, the cave would close, and miners would have to wait for a certain amount of time until it opened up again.

These teasers led up to the Concave Genesis Event, where alpha was dropped form the skies. The Core members talked about protocol features, future trajectory, tokenomics, whitelist and more. The event broke previous viewer records by a landslide, with over 1200 people listening live. Alpha was dropped, Poaps were given out, and the sheer hype actually caused a server outage for a few hours. We are truly thankful for the passionate miners who showed up to create this magical experience with us. Thank you!

Community Proposal 2

Our Policy Lead Miaoshi has been on fire recently with the alpha that he has been sharing on recent blog posts. One significant blog post that Miaoshi has posted recently is his community proposal 2, which offers his proposed rebase model for Concave and his rationale for this model. There is a lot of necessary information that is difficult to go through in detail here, but Miaoshi argues that the focus with this proposal should be to bootstrap treasury growth in the early phases of the protocol and gradually shift to paying back investors in later phases. If you haven’t read through this proposal yet, you can read the blog post here.

Halo Infinite Tournament

If you have spent some time with the community, I’m sure you would know that we have a lot of miners who are interested in gaming. To foster friendships and connections, the community has regular gaming events; For this week, Shaz would like to host a 1v1 Halo Tournament where you can test your meddle with other miners in a fun tournament that would be streamed on the Concave Twitch channel. If you are interested in participating, please contact Marco Polo or Shaz in the Concave Discord to learn more.

Team Interview with Baron Idaho

A strong community needs a strong core, and the mining core has been busy at work getting Concave to be a powerhouse in the DeFi space. We wanted to drop by and have a short interview with Baron Idaho, one of the core miners for Concave.

What is your background?

I am the elder statesman here. I have 30 years of experience in IT career, worked in various corporations and startups. I preferred working in startups, and this led me to look at DAOs. Working at Concave feels like going back to my startup roots. I have been a scrum master for more than 5 years but worked in an agile way for most of my career.

How did you learn about Concave?

That would be Wookie’s fault. He introduced me to Concave and asked if I wanted to join them on a grand mission.

What are your personal hobbies?

Modding and playing video games, especially games from Bethesda like Fallout and Skyrim. Also I have fostered dogs for over 10 years and helped find homes for over 60 dogs at this point. I enjoy travelling, can’t wait for Covid hysteria to end so I can start doing that again.

How do you envision Concave in the future?

I will admit to being a crypto noob. I was brought on for my organizational skills and agile mindset. I see Concave as a means to disintermediate many existing financial systems that have a monopolistic control over people’s access to earning wealth.

What is a goal that you would like to achieve?

End the Fed

Community Event Framework

We know that there are a lot of miners that are eager to host events with Concave, and the community team wants to give you the opportunity to do that by giving you the resources and framework to host successful events. We are finalizing this framework right now, and we will have any necessary information you might need to start an event with the community team. With this framework, you will have a dedicated team member check in with you regularly to see if there are any potential issues that come up, resources such as streamers and casters who can help cast your event, and more. If you want to organize an event, feel free to let the community team know!

Miner of the Week

This week’s Miner of the Week goes to Nate the Noble, a member of the community team and event organizer for the community. Nate was a key contributor to organizing the Concave Genesis event, and we wanted to stop by and learn more about Nate and what he does with the Concave community.

For those of you who did not see his country tag, Nate reigns from Singapore, He graduated from a Business course in an InfoTech school.

Nate has run businesses in real life and has been doing so for the past 9 years. He is a hands-on person that loves to see ideas turn into real world results through the processes and finally achieving the desired outcome.

Nate has managed over 40+ employees, handling 6–7 digit contracts and projects, He is comfortable working with people who share a similar sense of initiative and empowers them to do great things.

Nate has stated that he is happily married with kids, so please don’t send him ass pics.

Last but not least, Nate’s go to phrase that he has always followed religiously is this.

If not us, who?

If not now, when?

Other Community Contributions

The Community Contribution section is a place where we celebrate some of the amazing work of our mining community. Here are some of the brilliant projects that our community has created this past week.

Memes

We have some amazing meme creators in our community, and they have been putting in their passion and creativity to create memes that miners can enjoy. One meme that made us chuckle was this timely meme made by uni11 which shows how community members react when there is a Concave event like the Concave Genesis.

The Arts

For this week’s section on The Arts, we wanted to highlight this amazing short comic by Cooc about a frog that is searching for the Golden spoon in Concave. The art is a joy to look at, and I personally can’t get enough on the expression that the frogs have. We have some true talent in our community, and it’s always great to see the creativity that comes out of our miners.

That’s all for this week miners — we hope you enjoyed this week’s issue of the Concave Lens and look forward to bringing you the next one.
